Standing upon your perch
Land beneath your claws,
Wasteland, now, over the years
Unmanned and abandoned factories
Banned from manufacturing more harm
Understanding the earth’s need to heal.
Thank you so much to Jeff Ehren for today’s prompt — bird! Check out his amazing piece, as the first word of each line of this poem is actually taken from the last word of each verse of his!
This one really gave me a challenge as I don’t often think about birds. …
in my dreams,

American culture encourages you to delay feeling proud of yourself until external validation has been granted. Practice this and you get to the point where you cannot feel proud until that validation materializes. And if it doesn’t, you withhold approval of yourself. Then, because you are always in your own company, you constantly feel like you’re lacking and you get to the point where even external validation cannot land. (Koritha Mitchell)
I wake up in the morning
feeling groggy and cloudy
just shy of the morning sun

I used to think
was about the big displays,
the rollercoaster highs,
the confetti pops.
It wasn’t until
I started appreciating
the boring things…
like a pen that flows just right,
an empty sink (no dishes to wash!),
a sweater that hugs just right,
that genuine happiness

A while loop is a cool programming thing where as long as a condition is met, the things you write within the loop will continue happening.
For example, while we’re counting down from 99 bottles of beer in the classic sea shanty with the following lyrics:
99 bottles of beer on the wall, 99 bottles of beer.
Take one down, pass it around, 98 bottles of beer on the wall…
98 bottles of beer on the wall, 98 bottles of beer.
Take one down, pass it around, 97 bottles of beer on the wall…
We can start off by defining…
I love butter tarts
their sweetness filling my soul
their sugar healing

Tart/ pie/ pastry crusts are so cool but so hard to make! What do you think of when you bake these?
